Welfare

Should you know of an ex serviceman or woman within the Portadown area who requires help or support please contact the branch and ask to speak to a member of the welfare committee.

Within Portadown Branch we have a welfare committee who meet on a regular basis as well as support members in a number of ways.

The Branch Welfare Committee continues to carry out a large number of home & hospital visits. Advice has also been given to many people on DHSS benefits, war pensions and service pensions. We would like to remind members that they should notify the Welfare Committee of any members of the ex-service community who they believe are suffering hardship or in need of help.

Bennet House - Portrush

Bennet House, the Legion's home for veterans' and carers' breaks, in Northern Ireland, offers a peaceful venue to members of the Ex-service community in need of rest and convalecence. Ex-service personnel and their dependants can benefit from a stay in Bennet House, taking a break from life's normal stresses and boosting both physical and emotional health. Our numbers to Bennet House have increased to 34 over the past year, and those who had a break in the home can highly recommend it.

If anyone would like more details about Bennet House please contact any Branch Officer or any Member of the Welfare Committee.
